Kirk MacDowell

Business leader and 44-year security industry veteran, Kirk MacDowell is the founder and CEO of MacGuard Security Advisors. Bringing insight from his time at industry innovator Alarm.com, top Fortune 100 manufacturers General Electric and United Technologies, a top 50 SDM integrator, and his own electronic security firm, Kirk now offers his expertise to the security industry through his trusted consulting services providing business strategies, strategic growth initiatives, business development, acquisition analysis, and customer satisfaction surveys.

A sought-after industry speaker, Kirk remains active in many associations serving on numerous industry and private company boards. He was a past Board of Director of the Security Industry Association (SIA) and The Monitoring Association (TMA), past Chairman of AIREF (Alarm Industry Research & Education Foundation), and past president of the Los Angeles County Burglar and Fire Alarm Association (LABFAA). Kirk was the former Chairman of the Security Industry Alarm Coalition (SIAC), and current Chair of the Electronic Security Association’s (ESA) Leadership Identification and Nominating Committee (LINC).​ Kirk is also on the Editorial Board for Security Sales and Integration and Commercial Integrator magazine. Kirk received two prestigious awards in 2023 including the William N. Moody Award and the Sara E. Jackson Award for his work serving the trade, in addition to being recently inducted into the 2024 Industry Hall of Fame at the International Security Conference (ISC West) in Las Vegas.

Kirk will be the honored recipient of the 2024 Weinstock Person of the Year Award at the upcoming Electronic Security Expo (ESX) on June 5, 2024, in Louisville, KY, and will receive the George A. Weinstock Award for Lifetime Achievement to the industry at the California Alarm Association’s (CAA) annual meeting at the Fairmont in San Francisco in December 2024.
